Why this site exists

Almost every page published about the Vanuatu passport quotes a number of destinations. Almost none explains where the number came from. That gap is the reason for this site.

The figure used throughout is 88, which combines visa-free entry with visa on arrival and counts partially recognised territories. It is not the only defensible figure. Exclude the territories and it falls. Fold in the forty-odd destinations that issue electronic visas and it climbs past a hundred, which is how a great deal of marketing material arrives at totals no one can reconcile. We publish the list, say which convention produced the total, and let you check it.

What 2023 changed

Two decisions reshaped this passport within six months. The European Union suspended visa-free access on 4 February 2023, later making it permanent through Regulation (EU) 2025/11 of 19 December 2024, with the visa requirement applying from 3 February 2025. The United Kingdom made Vanuatu a visa national country on 19 July 2023. A striking amount of published material — including material still being updated in other respects — predates both and has never been corrected.

The document requirements, ordered by which ones actually decide a timetable. And a plain account of what the passport does not do, which is the part most guides handle by omission.

How we handle what we cannot verify

Where the Citizenship Office publishes a figure, we use it and say so. Where sources disagree — the Capital Investment Immigration Plan is the clearest case, with amounts and holding periods differing between publishers — we describe the structure and decline to invent the numbers. We do not publish case studies, client names, success rates or a firm history, because none of those can be checked by a reader and an unverifiable claim is worth less than an honest gap.

Who this is for

Anyone weighing the programme who wants the measurement rather than the sales figure, including readers in Australia, for whom this passport does not open Australian entry and never has. If that sounds like an argument against the document, it is not. It is an argument for knowing what you are buying before you buy it.
